Introduction
The VRM temperature has been causing a problem for the users of Radeon HD 4890/4870, especially for those who are into overclocking. Considering the fact that VRM-R1/R2 successfully fixed this, Thermalright unveiled earlier this month the VRM-R3/R4 for Radeon HD 5800 series VGA cards.

The global financial crisis seems to have hit the Japanese motorcycle manufacturers the hardest. There’s very little to get excited about from them next year except for Kawasaki’s funky Z1000. One notable exception is the Honda VFR1200, but it’s clear…

TPCRacing Porsche Cayman S Turbo - Click above for high-res image gallery
When Porsche introduced the Cayman in 2006, one thing was abundantly clear: Porsche had muzzled its midship coupe to prevent cannibalizing 911 sales. Despite a more favorable weight distribution and an unflappable chassis, the Cayman lacked the power to exploit its excellent underpinnings, even in “S” guise. So like its Boxster sibling, the Cayman was destined to play second fiddle to Porsche’s iconic rear-engine flagship. From a business perspective, Porsche’s decision made sense. For enthusiasts, it was yet another bitter pill from Zuffenhausen.
When the Cayman underwent a refresh, there was always hope that a turbocharged variant would be included in the line-up. Predictably, that never happened. So the Cayman continued to stand on the lower/middle rung of the Porsche ladder, offering less power and a lower price than the 911. The Cayman could dance. It just needed an extra bit of oomph.
That’s where Mike Levitas comes in. Mike is the brains behind TPCRacing of Jessup, MD. Born of a family of automotive tinkerers, Mike spent most of his formative years learning about turbos and turning that knowledge to race cars - fast, reliable race cars that won championships. Like most other Porsche enthusiasts, Mike thought the Cayman could use more power. Turbocharged power. But unlike most of the marque’s devotees, Mike made it happen.

Michael Schumacher would have made an F1 comeback for Ferrari instead of Mercedes, reckons test driver Marc Gene.
Writing on his blog for Spanish newspaper El Mundo Gene claims Schumacher would have been the third driver at Ferrari in 2010 had the regulations allowed him him to race.
That would have meant Schumacher teaming up with his 2006 title rival Fernando Alonso as well as Felipe Massa.
It goes some way towards explaining Luca di Montezemolo’s doleful remarks about Schumacher’s “twin brother, identical in every way, who seems to have it in his head to go and race in Formula 1 with Mercedes.”
I’m torn between whether I’d rather see Schumacher return to Mercedes, the team that helped him get his break in international motor racing, or take on Alonso at Ferrari. What do you think?
And did Ferrari give any serious thought to giving Massa the elbow so they could have a Schumacher-Alonso dream team?

Just ran across a list of the 12 highest paid people in America for 2009; Nascar’s Dale Earnhardt Jr. squeaked onto the list, which maybe was expanded to include him? Why not stick with the top 10, I wonder.
According to this piece, Jr’s “merchandise sales were ‘twice the…

Word floating around today is that Michael Schumacher’s brother Ralf has his eye on a return to the Formula 1 grid.
The Associated Press has a report, which I think includes some unintended moments of hilarity:
Ralf Schumacher, who retired from Formula One in 2007, said Tuesday that racing against…

What’s in a committee? One of the new trademarks of the Frenchman Jean Todt’s FIA is a series of committees and sub-committees for this issue and that. It is a reflection of the French political system with its myriad committees and layers. Let us hope that, unlike the French system, it…
