LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas (Reuters) - Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney won his party's primary in Kentucky on Tuesday and took a commanding lead in Arkansas, as he got closer to clinching the GOP nomination, official tallies showed. The largely ceremonial victory by Romney came as the Democratic primaries saw President Barack Obama lose some voters to a mostly unknown candidate in Arkansas and the ballot option "uncommitted" in Kentucky, in an apparent sign of voter dissatisfaction with Obama in those conservative Southern states. …

HONG KONG (Reuters) - Unchecked abuses in cities by shadowy para-police units derided by many Chinese as “arbitrary and thuggish” are intensifying social strains and undermining stability, international advocacy group Human Rights Watch said in a report on Wednesday. The report said China’s “chengguan” para-police agencies were an often overlooked yet malign and less supervised component of China’s public security apparatus, their action often directed at disadvantaged sectors of society. SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Facebook Inc has agreed to settle a lawsuit that alleged the site’s “Sponsored Stories” feature publicized users’ “likes” without compensation or the ability to opt out, according to a court document filed on Tuesday. The proposed class action lawsuit, filed in a San Jose, California federal court, could have included nearly one of every three Americans, with billions of dollars in damages, court documents say.
